Finally, here are some pictures of my completed PG Unicorn.
And as a special guest, I would like to introduce you to my first Gunpla, the PG Astray Red Frame. He is here for two reasons. First, to do some height comparison. And second, I never posted any pictures of him and he got me into contact with Gunpla TV, HLJ and this wonderful blog full of great people and awesome models!
The Unicorn is painted with an airbrush, using lacquers that I decanned. Also used Alclad II stainless steel for outside bell of the thrusters, Vallejo Liquid Copper for the inside of the bell, Vallejo Liquid (Old) Gold for several details, like the verniers in the skirt armor and the weapons are sprayed in a subtle two tone. One is the same color used as the inner frame, the other is Alclad II Steel. It doesn’t show that well on camera, but this may has to do with the fact that my light which I use to take pictures broke, so I had to rely on the camera itself….
The ammo clip and backpack/feet are painted with Mr.Hobby mixed according the color chart of the manual. As are both pilots.
The Astray is painted using rattle cans and not panel lined due to the fact that at that time, I didn’t had a clue which thinning agent I had to use for cleaning enamels.
But on the plus side, this gives me a great excuse to build a new one in the future.
And as another comparison, the white armor on the Unicorn used only one spray can (Can stated 400ml paint, but after decanning and all the propellant evaporated, only 170ml remained…) and the Astray used up 3 (!!!) cans of the same color. And that’s only for the Armor. So in the lang haul, an airbrush is so much cheaper…..
Included in the pictures are two with the LED’s on. One with the flasher of the camera on, the other off.
Hope you’ll enjoy. For any questions, suggestions, good or bad, please leave a comment below.
But, without any further ado, here they are…..
