Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage Cafe

Project Sekai: Colorful Stage” is a rhythm game that has taken the otaku crowd by storm here in Japan! And, it’s no wonder – combining VOCALOID music and characters like Hatsune Miku with original characters that boast rich, enticing stories… it was a recipe for success! And that success as translated over to the English side of fandom with the English release of the game released this week re-titled to “Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage!” To celebrate this, we went to Project Sekai Animate Cafe in Ikebukuro!

I had two goals going to this cafe. The first was to eat delicious Project Sekai-themed food, and the other was to get the coaster of my favorite character, An Shiraishi. And we started out with a good sign! We managed to get seated at the Vivid Bad Squad table, the name of the unit in which my girl is in! Sweet! Now, on to the food and drinks…

I didn’t want to do my oshi dirty, so I started off with the Vivid Bad Squad cheese dog and two Vivid Bad Squad strawberry soda floats! The drinks each came with a random wafer with a character printed on it and I got two to up my chances of getting An. Luckily, I got her! My cheese dog also came with a Kohane coaster and one of my drinks came with an An coaster. Basically, I was a winner. I got my two favorite girls and I couldn’t have been happier. I ended the food experience with a change of pace and got the Leo/need unit’s churro and blueberry sauced ice cream plate. Delicious!

As with all collab cafes, there were plenty of goods to choose from. I took a picture of this adorable display of all of the acrylic stands you could get. They were randomly packed so I didn’t get any myself – it would’ve just been to difficult to get my girl!

All-in-all, it was a great experience! Here’s to the success of the English release of the game!
