Upcoming Anime ’86’ Model Kits from Bandai

86 is a Japanese light novel series that began in 2017 and got its manga adaptation in 2018. Now, owing to its popularity, it makes its anime debut in April 2021, and Bandai is on board.

The story revolves around warring nations and the mecha, Legions and Juggernauts, used to fight it. Unbeknownst to the public, the Juggernauts are not just robots, but are piloted by Handlers who are all members of a persecuted racial minority.

Bandai’s initial announcement for the plamo lineup includes three similar model kits of different Juggernaut configurations from the show: Shin’s Machine, a Long-Range Canon Type, and a General Purpose type.

You’ll notice that these kits are HG 1/48 scale kits, which should give experienced Gunpla builders an idea of what to expect considering the existing High Grade Gundam line.

Each kit includes a different seated pilot figure that can be positioned into the opening cockpit, as well as a standing figure of Vladilena to pose outside the mech.

…And a Figure Kit!

But wait, there’s more: in addition to the HG mecha kits, we’re getting a Figure-rise Standard kit of Vladilena.

Her favorite lines are Hasegawa's Mechatro WeGo line, Meng's World War Toons Pinky line, and weird miscellany like Platz's bonsai tree kits. In general, if it's a detailed miniature that's too small to be useful for anything other than taking up space, she'll probably love it.
