With Pokemon GO about to release some Unova monsters into the wild, what perfect timing it is that I grabbed Zekrom to build as my most recent Pokemon Plamo kit!
Zekrom is the box art monster from Pokemon White, and is a member of the “Tao trio” of legendaries from the game.
If I recall correctly, White was actually the last new-generation game I played (it’s been a while… 🙁 ) but I never ran into this guy. It has a pretty interesting structure — and is mostly just shades of black which is right up my alley — so I’m looking forward to this one!
The Box
We get a full four runners for this guy, and the color separation is looking pretty good (but you’ll get a better look at that below). Of course, there are a bunch of stickers, and a full-color instruction manual.
The completed version on the right mentions that there are clear parts included for the tail.. drill… whatever it is, it’s pretty cool. 🙂
Another edge of the box shows off the articulation: move his wings, and his mouth opens and closes, showing off all those pointy teeth.
The Runners
A1: Grey and clear black.
A2: White, black, grey
B: Grey
C: Grey
This kit doesn’t have many colors, but the separation looks pretty good compared to other kits I’ve built in this line. There are also some really small parts on this kit — nothing compared to Gunpla, but certainly smaller than I’m used to seeing on other Pokemon kits.
Here’s the manual and the stickers, which I’ll mostly be foregoing.
These are the colors I’ve chosen to take the place of the stickers on this kit. We’re mostly looking at black with a couple other details — and I don’t dare try to paint those tiny eyes.
That’s it for the unboxing! Stick around for the build & review, and consider picking up one of these 646 JPY bad boys below:
