Gunpla TV – Episode 311 – Girls und Shinkalions

This week we take a break from the usual Bandai releases (except for one SD Freedom) and take a look at some of the latest offerings from Kotobukiya and Good Smile Company!  Todd has the Frame Arms Hatsune Miku built as well as the Good Smile Moderoid Shinkalion Hayabusa! Our favorite ginger Dave also joins the show once again with a built kit of his own, the Frame Arms Sylphy!

In this episode:
Frame Arms Girl Sylphy (Striker)
Frame Music Girl Hatsune Miku (Secondary Production)
MODEROID Shinkalion H5 Hayabusa
SD Gundam Cross Silhouette Freedom Gundam
1/144 HGUC Narrative Gundam C-Packs
Figure-rise Standard Kamen Rider Zi-O
Figure-rise Standard Kamen Rider 555 (Faiz)
Figure-rise Standard Kamen Rider Kabuto

Level 75 Marketing Mage. Editor, admin, and occasional code monkey. Stand User in her free time. Though she does build kits when time allows, time doesn't allow often. Her favorite lines are Hasegawa's Mechatro WeGo line, Meng's World War Toons Pinky line, and weird miscellany like Platz's bonsai tree kits. In general, if it's a detailed miniature that's too small to be useful for anything other than taking up space, she'll probably love it.

  4. Hello, that Narrative Gundam C-Packs indeed looks great.. Really deserves a look into imao.. And also, yes, I think too that it could be a good test to take some of those 30 minute mission kits and try to build them in 30 minutes. I kind of hope they wil be compatible with some of the HG line.. could be some good parts for custom maybe.. 🙂

  5. Figurise Kamen Rider ZI-0 comes with weapon but the SHF version does not. Epic failed. #WOW

  6. Tried Shinkalion, it was meh. Then they announced Miku was joining the cast so I watched it. Then Miku stopped appearing and I lost interest (and again when they had the Evanglion crossover).

  8. These Goodsmile model kits are really starting to peak my interests. I’ve always liked the whole bullet train into giant robot transformation. The Transformers and Soul of Chogokin lines released figures like this so i might just have to pick that Hayabusa one up 🙂 Also just wanted to say that I love this show and it really made me want to get into building more model kits. It may be the reason why I have a massive box sitting in my room that is filled with over 20 kits from HLJ.com 😉😂.

  14. Hmm… I can’t say Kamen Rider is that childish, considering how often people wind up dying in it >.>
I think Shinkalion is a little… lazy? There’s not especially creative mecha designs.
Always worried about the cost of Kotobukiya kits, they’re always so much more expensive than Gunpla…

  15. Shinkalion looks interesting. It does remind me of Team Bullet Train from 2001 Transformers Robots in Disguise Series. Any chance of a review of the Frame Arm Girls Hand Scale and comparison to the normal size kits?

  16. I guess it’s a good thing neither Sylphy nor Miku have crazy backpacks that would make them more topheavy. What about the recent Megami Device releases?

  17. I personally think Sylphy has a crazy amount of good detail. Her backpack really drew my eye in, as did her hair color.

What’s this FaceGram? Did Todd create a new social networking site?

  41. That’s exactly what Ithink about Kamen Rider. They look too goofy in the show for my taste, but I love the designs in figure form.

  42. I would love to build those Kamen Rider kits, cause I love Kamen Rider and I would love to display the Kamen Rider Figures with their gear but getting the DX Toys and such on my budget is so hard.

  50. Apologies if this ends up a double- or triple-post. Previous times I’ve tried, I think the URL link was triggering a security feature or the post was too long.

A year before the Tohoku Earthquake, in the town of Otsuchi, a man named Itaru Sasaki set up a phone booth in his garden as a way of talking to and coping with the death of a loved one. After the earthquake, word got around about his phone booth, and people from all over Japan began to show up on his doorstep, asking and needing to use his phone. Called the “wind phone,” this phone booth has been covered by news programs the world over, from NHK to NPR’s This American Life (google “this american life one last thing before i go really long distance”). The phone even has an entry on Google Maps, complete with reviews and everything.

  53. Looking forward to the SD cross silhouette upgrade kit. If only to make me an SD GM.

The idea of the “tooty” face… Seems like an oddly specific kink. No shame, you do you, to each their own and all that.

    • Also, got to agree with the plastic eyes on the SD kits. First time I saw it slot together on the SD Grandpa, it just put the biggest smile on my face.

  59. Wow that bullet train robot looks so cool, especially the head scope. If only it could transform into train mode (without using excessive parts of course), it would have joined my top favorite mecha models.
