Hi-Metal R Walker Gallia Review

Hi-Metal R Walker Gallia by Bandai – Available From HobbyLink Japan

By Cacophanus from Mecha Damashii

Following the unboxing, here is the review for the Hi-Metal R Walker Gallia from the classic anime Combat Mecha Xabungle. While this is not the first toy of this design, it is by far and away the best.

This is by no means the first Walker Gallia toy we have had, as obviously the design had its fair share of figures over the years.

However, the best to compare this new Hi-Metal R version to is the Soul of Chogokin release from 2007.

This was a nice toy that featured all the gimmicks and transformation elements but it was quite small. Same went for the Soul of Chogokin Xabungle.

This Hi-Metal R version is much bigger and better than this previously already high-end release. So let’s get to it.

The main point that makes this Walker Gallia so nice is that it is a solid and chunky toy now. The proportions are also much closer to the anime and it features more of the detailing and extra parts compared to the previous Soul of Chogokin release.

You also have separate figures for the two cockpits and you can open both. You also get extra parts for the guns and antenna, as well as window open version of the cockpit in the head.

Like the other Hi-Metal R releases for Xabungle, the Walker Gallia has a very clean sculpt and minimal detailing. The results are a striking figure that isn’t overly cluttered either.

The articulation is superlatively good and all the major joints use metal for strength and stability.

This is an interesting point as the Walker Gallia transforms and separates into two separate vehicles. Normally, this would result in the combined figure having more limited articulation.

However, in this case, due to the increased size and judicious use of diecast, the combined figure is very sturdy.

Overall, this is easily the best rendition of the Walker Gallia to date. It’s big, chunky and very well made. It also comes with pilot figures and pretty much all the various weapons from the series. If you are a fan of Combat Mecha Xabungle, then you should pick this up along with all the other Hi-Metal R figure for the series as soon as possible.
