Gunpla TV – Episode 298 – Bandai Space Battleship Yamato Kits

It’s been a while but it’s time to look at some new Space Battleship Yamato kits from Bandai again! Two different kits are shown this week! For the first time in GunplaTV history we take a look at a Mecha Collection Yamato kit! The Mecha Collection U.N.C.F. Andromeda-Class Set comes with not one but FIVE ships! Also we have the Ginga from the upcoming 2202 Yamato movie!

In this episode:
Mecha Collection U.N.C.F. Andromeda-Class Set
1/1000 Experimental Ship of Transcendental Dimension GINGA
Bandai Collection Stages
1/144 HG RGM-79KC GM Intercept Custom
World War Toons Kits

Her favorite lines are Hasegawa's Mechatro WeGo line, Meng's World War Toons Pinky line, and weird miscellany like Platz's bonsai tree kits. In general, if it's a detailed miniature that's too small to be useful for anything other than taking up space, she'll probably love it.

  2. Todd doesn’t eat with nippers. He eats with the Gundam beam saber chop sticks. I know I would.

  5. Get better soon, Lindsay.

And hey, you know what would make an awesome 300th episode? Boss Builds, and inviting Ryan and Syd back for some segments. Y’know, if you could get ’em.

  10. hello, welcome back Lindsay. i really wanna try those yamato mecha collection ships.. (probably the smaller ones..) they look awesome !! Want to paint them as much for display than for some wargaming !! They really do have some nice details.

    • Thanks! The Mecha Colle kits are only about 400 or 500 yen for individuals, so they’re great to experiment with (compared to big, expensive kits), and a great size for wargaming, too.

  21. I wish there were more gundam “ship” models. Maybe a larger scale than those old EX kits

  22. In the early 90s, I collected sets of models of gundam and patlabor. And all of them were already snap-fit with bushings of non-erased plastic. Another thing is that the parts were less than in modern sets. Therefore, two or three colors on the robot, the model was made of two halves of the same color. I had to paint. What always turned out to be crooked. In 2015, I purchased all the old kits from Patlabor from you. I want to win a coupon that would return me to HLJ. My old mail was stolen from me (asuma@mail.ru), at which account all purchases were made from the beginning of the 00s. So I had to switch to another account.

  25. That Bandai 2 LED unit is 1800 yen?! Thats around 3000 yen with the cost of the other LEDs. It does look great with them installed in the Ginga, but 3k yen cost makes a does good case for just learning to solder and wire cheap LEDs yourself.

  37. Is Bandai telling us a secret message with all these Yamato releases? Maybe, the next great Bandai Store opens with a real size Yamato in front or the store opens inside a real size Yamato. Yeah. Who knows?

  51. I definitely prefer the original Yamato over the Ginga and as for the multi led units it’s not very hard to wire the LED Sets in series then run two wires into the base with a hidden single switch.

As for episode 300 ideas? How far has your modelling skills come from when each of you first started building? Early build vs Newer build.

  55. That Tiger tank World War Toons kit is quite large in size compared to other WWT kits. The Sherman tank is one of the cuter designs as it rocks back and forth.

  57. I usually don’t care a lot about lights in kits or action figures, but I have to say they look pretty cool here. It’s a shame you have to buy some of them separately.

As I could not find an answer I have decided to print my own, translating the text where necessary.
