The Production Model EVA-02b from Neon Genesis Evangelion is a new design for the new Evangelion movie series. Let’s see how it stacks up.

Unique cover art, withe the box presented in landscape form.  I think it’s pretty eye-catching.

The box is around the same size as a MG Zaku, though slightly deeper.

And it’s also a bit thicker than the EVA-01 from the same series.

The side of the box shows the options you can choose for either the EVA-02 and EVA-02 Beta.

There’s also some gimmicks and a pretty cool looking pose with the monstrous gun.

You can see the main red color pop out as soon as you crack open the box, along with a fair number of other colors.

The manual is very similar to the EVA-01.

Here are the plates in alphabetical order.

That’s a huge chunk of the alphabet!

There’s also a little part for the face.

And polycaps as you’d expect.

There’s also a wire for the power supply and weapon that you can attach.

For some final thoughts on the unbox, the first thing that may impress you is the number of plates. A to X is nothing to sneeze at! If you saw the review of the of EVA-01, you may have seen that this kit has high mobility, so I think most of the focus here will be on what exactly is different for the EVA-02 Beta. It seems that Kotobukiya is really trying to make things more accurate, with a whole extra H plate just so you can switch up the colors.
